The ITIL 4 Foundation qualification is intended to introduce candidates to the management of modern IT-enabled services, to provide them with an understanding of the common language and key concepts, and to show them how they can improve their work and the work of their organization with ITIL 4 guidance.
There are no formal prerequisites to take the ITIL 4 Foundation course or exam. It is open to anyone interested in IT service management.
ITIL Foundation is a prerequisite to take ITIL Practitioner as it supplements, rather than substitutes the Foundation qualification.
To that end the ITIL Practitioner syllabus will require delegates to have passed their ITIL Foundation exam and be familiar with the principles of ITSM and the organization-wide common language of ITIL.
