At Team Academy, we believe that knowledge, preparation, and mentorship are the cornerstones of success—and this week’s PMP training session was a testament to that philosophy. Led by industry expert Mohammed Naz, our learners were introduced to the roadmap for acing the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, with an emphasis on understanding, commitment, and strategic exam prep.
🗂 What’s Inside the PMP Exam?
Naz broke down the exam structure and explained how it reflects real-world challenges in both traditional and agile environments:
180 questions to be completed in 2.5 hours, divided into three segments with two optional 10-minute breaks.
Topics are split across:
Process (predictive project flow),
People (team collaboration, leadership),
Business environment (value delivery, organizational alignment).
💡 Fun fact: The PMP exam doesn’t look for just the “correct” answer—it seeks the best one, mimicking real-life decision-making.
🔁 Agile vs. Predictive: Which Side Are You On?
Naz provided a clear comparison between Agile and Predictive methodologies:
Predictive Agile
Scope is fixed Scope is flexible
Cost & time may vary Cost & time are fixed
Progress via reports/S-curve Progress via working solutions
Low stakeholder involvement High stakeholder engagement
He emphasized the rise of hybrid models, where flexibility meets structure—a vital skillset for today’s project leaders.
🧾 Registration, Membership, and Strategy
Getting PMP-certified isn't just about studying hard—it’s about smart logistics too:
PMI Membership: $139/year (first year), with benefits like discounts and exclusive resources.
Exam Fees:
$405 for members
$555 for non-members
Eligibility:
Bachelor's degree + 3 years of project experience
OR equivalent experience + 35 hours of PM training
📌 Pro tip: Focus on passing in your first attempt—though you get three attempts a year, failing all three results in a 12-month cooling period.
🧠 Exam Strategy and Study Tips
Naz provided a clear plan for approaching the exam:
1. Attend every session – each builds on the last.
2. Take notes actively – this is not passive learning.
3. Use the mark-for-review feature wisely during the exam.
4. Don’t change answers post-break – you won’t be allowed to revisit them!
💬 Students were encouraged to ask questions, bring real-world examples to class, and engage fully to make the most of their PMP journey.
🔜 What’s Next?
The next session will dive into exam question logic, real-world scenarios, and how to strategically answer situational questions. Naz will also share curated resources and study materials to accelerate your preparation.
